To my mother: the most chaotic woman with the most love in her heart.
Something I’ve learned is that in nature, patterns repeat. Things cycle. They follow similar paths, but never quite the same with each iteration. Like seasons, or tides.
This is a graph of the Julia fractal Set. And basically, it’s just the mathematical equation of nature's reiterations, with a dash of chaos. The edges of the set are boundaries that all the data can exist in. But you’ll find that the closer you look, you never really find the definite start and end of where that boundary can exist.
In a lot of ways, when I think about these fractals, I see the beauty in how you followed your path. Because it isn’t so different in how I decided to follow my own. Your life gave me a way to express and build my life in testament to all that is beautiful in this world.
Your perseverance was given to me. And your love of life and experience persists in me, too. I love this part of you, as I love it in myself.
Happy Mother’s Day
